Challenge of this concept (illustrative & mixed media)

“show don’t tell”

But I didn’t start with that…

I started with an idea to do a chart to visualize what the book would be about. I found that the typography proved to be plain, boring, and uninteresting to my readers. So I chose an illustrative approach. Something that would reflect on the person reading it themselves. Something that would be more alluring that just statistics.

Starting from the beginning Scratch

Before I started drawing an alluring illustration. I needed to confirm the typography that I wanted to follow. Here I practiced and matched many different serifs and san-serifs to ensure a match to the books brand.

Start Drawing!

Finally, I started to iterate design drawings and concluded that I needed more typographical elements than illustrative. As illustrative elements were too hypnotic and overwhelming on the spine.
